With the season just a few days old, but technically "week one" is in the books, our friends at The Case Agency are proud to present the Garden State Basketball Report Player Of The Week for the short run from opening night to Sunday, December 17,2023.

Saint Rose may have split their first two games but their senior star, 6'8" Villanova bound Matt Hodge left no doubt as to who the prime-time player was on the opening weekend.

In their tight opening night loss to Patrick School, Hodge exploded for 30 points, 9 rebounds and 4 assists in a do-it-all show to keep the Roses in the game throughout. Against NYC powerhouse Brooklyn South Shore on Saturday, Hodge led the path to victory for the Purple Roses with 16 points. He also replicated his opening night performance related to the topics of "does all the little things well"--9 rebounds. 4 assists.

Back-to-back high level opponents, back-to-back high level performances. Hodge has a high ceiling and Villanova is getting a versastile player at both ends of the floor who can score, defend, handle and facilitate. Hodge is the top forward prospect out of the Shore Conference since Danny Werner was at CBA(2006). Hodge is the real deal and should these performances continue, he will be in the mix for Case Agency Player Of The Year come March.
