Colts Neck Downs Midd South

Colts Neck, a team looking to refocus going into the Shore Conference tournament, paid a visit to Middletown South on Friday and took the short ride home past Thompson Park with a win in their back pocket.
The first quarter began with Middletown South coming out strong, led by Brady Hahn with a deep three, as well as Will Nugent scoring on another long three pointer. Colts Neck answered via 6'6" senior Vova Trotsko, who stepped up with a three point play and two three pointers. Trotsko also owned the board with 6 rebounds . Middletown South connected on a three as time ran down by Carmine DeCrescenzo to take the lead after one at 15-13.

The second quarter saw Middletown South have balnced scoring from five players again. They were led by Hahn, who finished with a dozen in the first half. Mike Belcher scored on a tough drive to hold Colts Neck within striking distance but Middletown South ended the quarter with a 6-0 run to take a 31 -23 lead at the half.

The third quarter began with Middletown South stretching the lead to a dozen and then the Colts Neck backcourt took over. Lucas Sloane and Bryce Belcher each had three baskets as Colts Neck took a run to narrow the South lead to 46-43 after three quarters.
The Cougars made their move in the fourth quarter as Trotsko and Belcher did work inside and Dominic Beninato hit several buckets as Colts Neck took the lead. Hahn kept South in the contest but it was Colts Neck holding serve to win 65-57.
