Morris Catholic Defeats Immaculata

Morris Catholic, ranked #16 in the ReportIt Top 25, took a short trip to Somerville to play a tested Immaculata squad and came away with a solid road victory, futher bolstering their resume as county and state playoffs approach.

After a quick bucket by Chigozie Anyora of Immaculata to start the game, Morris Catholic came out and scored the next eight points as Austin Workman scored on a dunk and future Penn Quaker, 6’10" center Michelangelo Oberti, scored the next hald dozen himself as Morris Catholic opened up an 8-2 lead. Anyora and Jared Alston each scored 4 as Immaculata clawed back to 13-10.Christian Nicholson went to work for Morris Catholic and scored eight points in the last two minutes of the quarter as Morris Catholic led 24-15 after one.
The second saw tight defense take over, as both teams clamped down. Immaculata gamely cut the lead to 28-24 behind 7 points from Cole Hayden. Morris Catholic countered with a pair of baskets from Oberti with two huge blocked shots, and also got four points from Connor Lee as the lead went back up to double digits at the half with Morris Catholic ahead 38-28.
The third quarter began with two buckets by Senior Anyora and another by Dante Regan as Immaculata cut the lead to 40-5. Kyle Dixon(9) and Austin Workman(8) turned up the heat offensively as Morris Catholic stretched their lead to 62-45 after three quarters.

The Fourth quarter saw Oberti score the first four points followed by a bucket from Workman as the lead went up to twenty. Both teams substituted with 3 minutes left and Morris cruised to an 82-68 win.
Workman led Morris Catholic in scoring along with Oberti as each had 20 points. Oberti also had 12 rebounds and 5 blocked shots.
Immaculata was led by Chigozie Anyora with 23 points and Cole Hayden with 18 points.
