The 2024-2025 season in the NJIC saw quite a bit of balance across the board but at the end of the day, the "power players" of the last few seasons stepped forward.
Paterson Charter and Saint Mary's of Rutherford fancied themselves as contenders for the NJIC Tournament Championship before the season began and the two met in the NJIC Semis, with Paterson Charter claiming their second win over the Gaels of the winter, both of them nailbiters. Charter was in the drivers seat to take the NJIC Tournament Title until Rutherford crashed the party.
The Bulldogs have been steady for several seasons now and among their 23 wins this winter was a statement win over Paterson Charter in the NJIC final, taking the title 57-44 behind 22 point effort from Max Gastelu.
Saint Mary's once again took on a number of difficult opponents, including giving Don Bosco Prep a run for its money in a 59-50 defeat. Their season ended at the hands of a rapidly improving Morristown Beard squad in the state tournament.
Weehawken will be left wondering what went wrong, as a quality season fell a bit off the tracks in the final week and a half, seeing them out of the states in the opening round.
