Seeking their first win of the 2023-2024 season after starting 0-3, Perth Amboy Magnet High School had an outstanding first half against Thomas Edison Energy Charter out of Franklin. It couldn't have been scripted any better.

Led by Jeremy Valdez, PAM jumped out to a quick lead to make it 12-0 after a quarter of play.
In the second quarter, they turned up the defensive pressure, Donovan Escobar scored three shots in the paint to inflate the PAM lead to 30-1 at halftime.
While the result seemed signed, sealed and delivered coming out of half time, there was no quit in Thomas Edison. Led by a valiant effort from Evan Gilpin, they outscored PAM 16-12 and won the quarter, providing an emotional lift. Gilpin took on a leadership role and confidently scored 10 points in the third quarter. PAM would close out the game by running down its bench and closing up a 51-24 victory.
Gilpin led Thomas Edison with 18 Points. Valdez led Perth Amboy Magnet with 15 points and 10 rebounds in a double-double performance.

Valdez got the job done at both ends and the scrappy 5'7" junior played bigger than his listed height to come down with 10 boards on top of his 15 points.
